GMA Network welcomes Latin Media Corp. - gohong01
GMA Network recently welcomed Latin Media Corp. (LMC) CEO and Founder Jose Escalante and wife Maria Andreina during their first-ever courtesy visit to the Network. LMC is an exclusive content distribution partner in Latin America through GMA's program syndication arm, GMA Worldwide, Inc. (GWI).
LMC, a well-respected distributor of Korean, Turkish, Indian, and Filipino content in Latin America, is responsible for the airing of Spanish-dubbed Kapuso dramas in all of Latin America, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Spain, and Spanish language channels in the USA and Canada.
The couple was warmly welcomed by GMA Network Chairman and CEO Felipe L. Gozon and President and COO Gilberto R. Duavit, Jr. Also present in the courtesy call were GWI President Anna Teresa Gozon, GWI Vice President Roxanne Barcelona, GMA First VP and Head of International Operations Joseph Francia, and GMA VP for Drama Redgie Magno.
The guests were also able to meet the lead stars of Kapuso dramas acquired by LMC - Bea Binene and Derrick Monasterio of Hanggang Makita Kang Muli (Cautiva), Kris Bernal of Impostora (La Impostora), Ken Chan and Rita Daniela of My Special Tatay (Un Corazon Especial), and Mikee Quintos and Kate Valdez of Onanay (El Amor Mas Grande).
“We're very lucky that we have partnered with Latin Media Corporation. They are the number one distributor of foreign content. Our revenues from our association with them are consistently growing and I think the reason is that Mr. Escalante is a very good manager,” said Gozon.
Escalante, on the other hand, shared how the programs from GMA are well received by viewers in Latin America. “When I started thinking of bringing [programs from] a country from Asia, I thought of bringing the Filipino dramas because we look the same, our families, our values are very similar in terms of culture and [in] the way we educate ourselves. So we started bringing Filipino dramas and they are well-accepted so far.”
“Actually in Peru and Ecuador, the ratings are really, really good. We are very happy, and that's what helps us to spread the word of Filipino dramas in the region,” Escalante added.
Other GMA dramas acquired by LMC were Second Chances (Una Nueva Oportunidad), Someone to Watch Over Me (No Me Olvides), Legally Blind (Legalmente Ciega), Ika-6 Na Utos (Dulce Venganza), and Hindi Ko Kayang Iwan Ka.
Meanwhile, in another partnership of LMC with GMA International, the Spanish-dubbed GMA dramas will also be available soon in at least 13 Latin American countries and other Spanish-language supported countries via Amazon.
